I have a chart from a web page that is clearly marked with a copyight symbol. Should I ask permission to make copies of it?

Faculty, staff and students are able to use publicly accessible materials from the internet as long as there isn’t a clearly visible notice  –and not merely the copyright symbol–  prohibiting educational use (sharing, displaying, etc.).

So as long as there isn't a notice you would NOT need permission to photocopy and distribute to your class.

Contact your college's copyright notice for any clarification.
