I found the perfect article, so why can't I see the whole thing?

Some publishers restrict access to their content by providing only article abstracts (summaries) instead of the full-text so researchers will become aware of these articles and seek them out. It may be well intentioned, but it's not always ideal for you as a student or instructor.

What are my options?

You'll definitely want to do a quick search for the title in Google Scholar  just in case the article can be found online. You may also want to search other library databases.

How do I avoid this in the future?

To avoid abstract-clutter, use the full-text online limit option when you search your library website.
